Describe the role:
We are seeking a Commercial Inland Steering Manager to develop the Area Inland strategy, define the Area-level Inland ambition for the upcoming fiscal year (volumes, profitability, Inland share, etc.), and align the commercial and operational perspectives to improve the Area's Inland ambition and result.
You are accountable for:
- Create the Inland pricing plan with the aim of achieving end-to-end Inland profitability, taking into account both the Inland Tariff tool and Inland-related fees.
- Actively manage your own area's sales funnel for inland chances.
- To reach Area goals, create campaigns and activities in coordination with stakeholders, disseminate them internationally, and actively control hinterland imbalances.
- Find clients that have untapped potential in the Inland and pass those along to the appropriate commercial teams for action.
- In order to build a market-based pricing strategy, gather market and competitive information (competitors' goals and product developments), compile market input from Area Sales, and attend Area Sales meetings.
- To establish the target attitude, project inland quantities based on past sales and reservations.
- Assume accountability for KPI accomplishment and create the monthly Inland performance report for the Area with the appropriate follow-up activities.
- Track the Area's progress toward the Inland plan and decide on activities to make sure the strategic measures are carried out.
- When objective achievement is in jeopardy, specify countermeasures.
- Inform the Regional Inland Center and Area Sales Director of frequent performance updates.
- Actively take part in the budget and forecasting process for the Area Inland
Inland Product Owner:
- Obtain market input (from Area Inland functions), consider prospective transportation options for various modes, and incorporate customer demands into the ultimate product offering.
- Determine the value propositions for the inland market and provide sales with concrete product information.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Account Managers for inquiries about inland products.
- By doing the necessary analysis on underserved/overserved locations, equipment levels, etc., drive the discovery and development of pertinent inland goods and design the inland network strategy.
- Own the capacity demand forecasts reports, and actively control the availability and utilization of the capacity.
- Analyze the need for fixed capacity based on operational and commercial data.
- To consistently expand and strengthen the vendor base, assist procurement with vendor negotiations and SLA formulation.
- Organize and oversee strategic vendor partnerships
A profile of you:
- Completed successfully a commercial training program or equivalent courses in business, commerce, sales, engineering, logistics, or a related field
- Several years of relevant professional experience, ideally in sales or operations, in shipping, forwarding, or logistics
- Excellent knowledge of both inland transportation and the maritime shipping markets
- Thorough knowledge of measuring the performance of inland transportation
- A high degree of initiative, the capacity to work in a team, and assertiveness, together with well-developed analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving abilities.

- Deep knowledge of the duties of product management, preferably in logistics
- Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, as well as a high degree of initiative, teamwork skills, and aggressiveness
- Strong communicator with management-level communications experience

- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft programs
- Thorough understanding of documentation techniques and port-based apps (such as Navis and ICUMMS).
- The capacity to work on several systems at once and evaluate the data
